The Reclaim School Day
A united approach to digital wellbeing.
We offer two talks for adults, a professional development talk for teachers, and a talk for students in years 6-9. The talks can be delivered individually or as part of a package.
Reclaim Connection (Parent talk)
Most parents sense that phones and social media are affecting their kids — but knowing what to do about it is another matter. This session walks through what the research actually tells us about how social media and smartphones affect adolescent development, covering both the risks and the nuances. We then introduce The Reclaim Protocol, a practical, evidence-based framework developed to help families make informed decisions and build healthier digital habits together.
Reclaim Childhood (Parent talk; 0-8 years)
The early years are arguably the most critical window in a child's development — and screens are now part of almost every home. This session explores what the research tells us about how screens affect young children holistically, from brain development and physical health, to literacy, attention and behaviour. We look at what children's developing brains actually need to thrive, and how to make thoughtful, informed choices for your family. Because screens can wait, but childhood can't.
Reclaim Your Attention (Student talk, Years 6–9)
Social media companies are worth billions — and your attention is how they make their money. This session doesn't lecture students about phones or screen time. Instead, it pulls back the curtain on how platforms and smartphone design deliberately hijack attention and influence behaviour. We work with students' own values and sense of autonomy to help them see clearly what's actually going on — and decide for themselves what to do about it.
Reclaim the Classroom (Teacher talk)
This session, co-delivered by Dr Samantha Marsh and Vanessa McHardy (MA Integrative Arts, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy), explores the growing impact of screen use on how children show up in the classroom, and what teachers can do about it. We look at what the research tells us about how screens outside school affect children's attention, regulation, and readiness to learn, and how to foster the classroom connection that helps kids re-engage. We also examine the evidence around in-classroom screen use — when technology supports learning, and when it gets in the way. The session closes with practical, research-backed strategies for building in the kind of offline downtime that helps young brains process and consolidate learning.
